I guess there’s good news and bad news to report!
The good news – System Shock 3 may have found the investment it needs, with the website ownership transferring from Otherside Entertainment to another company.
The bad news – that company was TenCent, the controversial company that causes many to break out in hives.
Having changed hands a number of times over the years, many have given up hope of ever seeing a third instalment in the sci-fi series that redefined survival horror gaming back in 1999, however, with a new investor potentially found, maybe we will see a System Shock 3 in the future.
Reported on here in an article by Andy Robinson for VGC, the rights for both SystemShock3.com and SystemShock4.com have now been transferred from Paul Neurath at Otherside Entertainment to the Chinese conglomerate, TenCent.
However, it’s not all great news, with many worried about TenCent’s growing involvement in the gaming industry, especially considering its troubled past around censorship and supposed surveillance of consumers.
We’ve yet to hear anything like an official statement on the purchase and investment, but it might only be a matter of time before we hear from the media giant.
Are you excited for a new System Shock or are you worried about TenCent’s involvement?
