Is Sony Patent proof that new PS5 is backward compatible like rumours say?

It looks like the new PlayStation will most probably be backwards compatible, with a patent filled in 2017 published on the 15th of January.

Suggesting that it could be possible to play older games via a “spoof clock running at the operating frequency of the prior version” of the console, the patent seems to be proof that Sony is eager and interested in backwards compatibility, confirming many of the rumours we’ve been hearing about the new system.

With articles like this one for The Game Post assuming that this means backwards compatibility is now a certainty for the new console, it looks like the pressure is now going to build on Sony to ensure that the feature is part of the next console.

Personally, I’d love to see backwards compatibility with the console, but what do you think?
