Square Enix will be happy, with Final Fantasy XV reportedly becoming the third biggest selling mainline title in the Final Fantasy franchise.
First reported in a tweet by Industry Analyst Benji-Sales, it looks like the title has now shipped around 8.9 million units worldwide, a pretty impressive number for the title that did several new things with the series.

Having been received well by both critics and fans, the game managed to tie a fantastic musical score to an interesting plot and enjoyable gameplay, providing a brilliant RPG experience in an expansive world filled with content, as well as providing a number of tie-in properties that further built on the story.
It’s a well-deserved victory for the title and makes me hopeful for the next title in the series.
