It looks like EA may have to concede the point that fans really do want single player games, with their latest title, developed by Respawn Entertainment, having the fastest selling digital launch for a Star Wars title.

Having released on the 15th of November, Fallen Order has enjoyed a great critical and fan reception for its interesting story and fluid combat system, but also because of its lack of microtransactions, something that caused a large amount of controversy for EAs earlier foray into the Star Wars universe, Battlefront 1 and 2.
With EA CFO Blake Jorgensen infamously saying that fans were not interested in “linear titles” back in 2017, when the last Star Wars game by Visceral Entertainment was cancelled, will this be enough to cause more story-based solo experiences to survive the cut in future?
I certainly hope so.
