Modern Warfare: No loot boxes and a cosmetic-only Battle Pass

It looks like Activision Blizzard is keen to reassure fans ahead of the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare ahead of it’s launch on the 25th of this month.

In a post on the official Activision Blog, the Call of Duty team said that they were committed to a “fair system” that sees players able to all earn the same items via gameplay, with only cosmetics behind a “Battle Pass” system and on sale in the in-game store.

With loot boxes having been a hot topic over the last few months due to the debate around gambling in video games, it looks like the publisher and developer is keen to establish that the controversial option will not be in their latest title.

The post also went on to mention that players can look forward to “free post-launch multiplayer maps” and that these would all be launched “simultaneously on all platforms”, something that gamers needed to hear after the backlash the company faced over their decision to release a mode of Spec Ops exclusively for the PlayStation 4.

With the title releasing on the 25th of October, what’s your opinion on the decision?
