Sony State of Play gives us the release date and unveils new gameplay and information about acclaimed PlayStation exclusive, The Last of Us 2.

PlayStation unveiled new information about the sequel to the critically acclaimed The Last of Us this evening via their State of Play broadcast. Showing brand new gameplay and cut scenes, game director Naughty Dog gave us another peek behind the curtain at Ellie on her bleak and emotional journey through the post-apocalyptic and overgrown world.

Initially released in 2013, The Last of Us introduced players to the iconic duo of Joel and Ellie, who quickly became some of the most loved characters in the history of the platform.
A huge critical success and hailed as beautiful and “heart-rending” by articles such as this one by newspaper, The Guardian, The Last of Us also struck a cord with players, securing a solid score of 95 on Metacritic, who have eagerly awaited more information since the sequel’s announcement back in 2016.
Ellie is shown in a stunning CGI sequence before viewers were thrown into a montage of brutal and grotesque clips of fighting and combat. Then a familiar hand saves her from being discovered by a convoy of vehicles…

Fans were treated to their first proper image of the ageing Joel as he joins Ellie on her journey, which players can experience from the 21st of February 2020.

We can’t wait to get our hands on it!
